my first time driving a stick shift it took me like an hour and a half to go 6 miles. i had to go pick up my brother and his friend from karate across town, with my dad. there were a lot of hills between home and the karate place. it was horrible. on the way home i stalled it like 9 times at a stop sign on a flat road! (i know cuz my brother and his friend were counting in the back seat, and hiding. i wanted to kill them.) i cried. i didnt drive stick again for a couple of months…..
now, however, i love it. its all about the stick shift!!!
i would definitely not recommend going somewhere the first time you try it. i mean, if you end up somewhere, great, but its better to just drive around, getting the hang of it, without having to be somewhere.
i would recommend finding a quiet street or parking lot or something with a good hill on it. that way you can learn and figure it out and not be in anyones way. (that was the most stressful part, stalling all those times when there were like billions of cars around.)
good luck!
