Finally made some progress. Parties on the weekends have made things slow going. I’m going to try and stay away from too much indulgence this weekend and see if I can carry it through.
My new short-term goal is 220 by the end of August.

Nothing is the same except the weight. I started running again and have managed 5/7 days a week. I’ve also focused on portions very carefully. To be honest, the weight dipped below the 230 mark several times, but no major downward trend yet. I’m hopeful that next week, I will have something to show for the hard work.

With renewed discipline, I managed to lose 4 pounds this week. I tracked everything I ate and can see that I’m hitting the right balance for calories. I think I could still do a little better in the healthy fruits and vegetables department.

Delighted to see those first few pounds come off…

Ate like a sane person today and lost some of the holiday bloat.

Due to general lack of discipline and too much holiday drinking, I’m up 7 pounds. I’m back at it in earnest starting today.

It turns out my scale was under by 10 pounds consistently, so my real weight was 10 pounds higher than I thought it was. New goals, adjusted. On the upside, I’m still losing weight:

Today it occurred to me as I went out for my usual three to three and a half mile run that I ought to give five miles a shot. Goal reached.
Either my scale is messing with me, or I lost another pound. Now, if I can just make it through the weekend without setting myself back in a major way.

So, now that the monster plateau is over, I’m actually making slow, steady progress again:

“Big deal,” you might say, but if you’ve been following this, you know that I’ve been on plateau for a rather long time. It’s been the kind of monster plateau that makes you want to give up and eat whatever you damn well please.
It has tried my very soul (ok maybe not.) But I have prevailed!

Weight has been hovering at and north of 210 for two weeks now. I’ve definitely been a little more indulgent lately, a consequence of personal celebrations and July 4th.
However, I haven’t given up and I’m looking forward to sharing news of my weight dipping below 210 soon…
Technically not a plateau… I went on vacation and off the exercise and diet schedule for a week. On the upside, I didn’t gain and just enjoyed myself. I’m back on track this week and hit the 20 pound milestone:

No major change this week. It went up a little, came back down, seems to be stabilizing at around 211. I’m Looking forward to seeing it go below 210, which will be some time next week based on past experience.
On the bright side, I just bought some new clothes and I am more than comfortably a size smaller.
My progress seems to have accelerated as of late due to more opportunities for exercise:

I’m down another two pounds. Now, I’m needing to replace some of the clothing (it’s way too big.)

I can do four, but generally I’m pretty tired out after three. I also feel like I have to take the last mile a lot slower than the first two-three. Does anybody have any advice on how to improve my endurance/speed?
