How I did it: After several attempts, my most successful strategy for exercising 3 times per week was to sign up to run a 10 mile race for charity with a friend. Likely to be a cultural highpoint for the year. Having not gotten around to booking tickets during the whole 3/4 year period that Jerusalem has been running to rave reviews, I ended up queuing for day seats – from 4.30am! I really doubted it could live up to the hype and the effort, but in fact it was amazing. A very poignant story of an outsider and how the world treats him, but also bringing in layers of lost traditions and magic, as well as a good slice of dance music and drugs!

Recommended by a friend who knows my love of all things feline, this is a detective novel where all the key characters, including the inspector, happen to be cats. Some gruesome bits, for a cat lover at least, but an enjoyable novel, made more interesting by footnotes giving background information on cat behaviour, about which the author Akif Pirincci has written at least one dedicated book, Cat Sense.
An good start to this goal!
