I don’t think this is an achievable goal, because you have to keep going at it. I’m not doing so well right now.

Quit Smoking (read all 2 entries…)
any advice? 2 years ago

Unfortunately I added this goal awhile ago and I have actually taken 2 steps back.

When I added this goal I was smoking less than a pack a day, now I am smoking upwards of 2 packs a day.

I smoke because it is a comfort, and I have a lot of social stress to deal with. I smoke most often while driving, and usually driving takes up most of my time. Does anyone have any suggestions to eliminate this as such a big part of my life?

84 percent complete 2 years ago

I have been out of high school for one year and a few weeks. Most people say they are going to take a year off before they go to college, and then never go. Well my year off wasn’t planned so I’m hoping that I’ll be an exception to that.

Anyway, I have been to 42 states since June 11th 2006. These trips have been the most amazing times of my life. Filled with stories and memories with friends and family that I will never forget. I travel the country usually every few weeks.

My most traveled route would be from Scranton Pennsylvania to Orlando Florida. I have flown and driven that route more times that I can count or remember. In fact I will be going there again next Wednesday for a week and will be spending the 4th of July in Florida. Not to mention I will eventually be moving back down there.

I have lived in New Jersey, Pennsylvania, Florida, and Alabama. It helps when you have family spaced out, when you can travel with just the expense of the food and gas.

In May, I drove across the country alone for the first time in my life. Only after my trip was over did I realize I just may have lived someones dream. I drove from Pennsylvania to Washington and back in 8 days, and I did it in my convertible that I have since sold. On the way there I had a friend with me, but I dropped him off in Seattle with his sister because I had to be back in Pennsylvania in time to drive to Miami with another friend.

The trip back was the most rewarding drive of my life. I made the journey over 3 days. Sleeping 5 hours, 8 hours, and 10 hours, respectively each of the 3 times I stopped. By the time that trip was over (I have a nifty GPS thing) I had spent over 120 hours in the car including sleep and driving.

I don’t think I will ever stop driving and there are far too many trips to catalog here. I just think of my progress in terms of the mileage I put on my cars. I owned a 2001 Mitsubishi Eclipse GT convertible for 1 month (literally). By the time I sold it (last month) I had put about 13,500 miles on it.

The states I have not been to:

Hawaii
Alaska
New Mexico
Arizona
Louisiana
Oklahoma
Maine
Vermont

for a cross section of a few of my trips, there are a lot of pictures I took posted on my flickr site which can be found here:

Good luck in your travels and in all your goals :)

Take more pictures (read all 2 entries…)
well on my way to completion 2 years ago

I used to kick myself over never taking enough pictures and how stupid I was for going on vacation or doing exciting things with no memories to show for it. Well I got a really awesome digital camera to replace my first one a few months ago and I have a 1 gig xD card in it. Since then I have littered my hard drive with thousands of photos that I can look at and realize at any point that I have had a great life so far. I have about 13000 pictures right now, and this was a goal I picked awhile ago. I think I’m almost there…

go on a road trip with no predetermined destination
just do it 2 years ago

Nothing I can recommend to you would be as awesome as this. Get in your car. I don’t care what kind of car it is or how far you think you will make it. Be spontaneous, do this for yourself. Grab your favorite cd’s or your Ipod and the necessities. If you don’t have a car stereo go to the fucking dollar store and buy a discman for 8 dollars. Just drive anywhere you don’t know where you are. If you are in the northeast, drive southwest. If you are in the midwest drive to a coast. Or if you just need to decompress, if you just feel life is too much to deal with right now.. just go. Even if it is for a couple hours. The music is very important, to me at least. I realize not everyone shares my enthusiasm about music but you can’t do this without something you love with you, or someone. Try it alone, try it with friends. I have only been to 34 states, and I am 19. I am on a lucky streak and I am having the time of my life. I put 35 thousand miles on my car since December of 2006 to date.

Believe me:
If you want to be spontaneous
If you want to relax
If you want to have a good time
If you want to come back with stories
If you want to see more in your life
If you need something more

Do this for yourself.
Listen to me:
Take a road trip.
And go no-where…

fall out of love (read all 3 entries…)
i fell in love now i want OUT 3 years ago

i fell in love… it wasn’t my fault i swear. there was no logical reason for it to happen. all of a sudden i was obsessed. i understood all the songs and the movies. i could converse on a different level… yes i even looked a life differently. i can say falling in love changed my life. but now with the circumstances i am left with… the fact that i have no chance with this love… i want, no NEED to fall out of love. i think i began working on this before i needed to. because i knew that it wouldn’t work out. i knew that i would have to fall out of love eventually and now that it is certain yes this is something i need to do. i recommended falling in love but i can’t back up that recommendation. i think if you fall in love and the other person loves you… then good luck! thats great and believe me i am truly happy for you! but if you are like me… i apply the TGTBT principle to my life anymore. TOO GOOD TO BE TRUE. cause if it is good, to a certain point, for me it will fall through or hurt me in some way. you may think it’s sad that i have to look at life that way… but when i start seeing a therapist i’ll let you know if i make any progress…..

learn how to type fast without looking at the keyboard
of course! 3 years ago

this is quite possibly the most valuable skill that any of my high school elective classes taught me! there is nothing more versatile, valuable, time saving, and easy to do! this skill will help you with job opportunites and in everyday life. this skill become especially valuable if you frequently communicate with people via email. there is no downside to learning this skill it takes next to no time!
