How I did it: I wrote my own shell script over on my vanity domain (www.nerdfu.net) to create a zip file of everything important over there, along with database exports. A cron job scheduled to run every week exercises that shell script, and creates a new zip file.I ended up using Sysax FTP Automation to get a script I could schedule to run every day and check for new zips (that way, I don't have to have my computer running all the time in order to hit… Read how I did it…
How I did it: I'd been curious about the idea for a long time, and after having done an online exam a few months back, I did a little digging around on the web.The Mensa website turned out to be the most useful reference: I found out that psychologists can conduct a supervised test, and that there are a number of different types of IQ test, and that the numbers don't really translate between them. Hanzo, my silent and deadly home PC for voice recording, is now built. There’s some definite tweaking to do – its a ways from being completely silent yet, due to having to sort out the cable mess, tune BIOS for fan speed settings, and get the motherboard doing exactly what I want, but it’s come a long way! And apart from the memory sticks I grabbed first time around being the wrong configuration, it all came together pretty easily.
And now, working groovily!
Stood at the side of a fairly scary emergency today that involved a wee little baby. If I had a first aid certificate, I could have been of use, rather than just trying to keep out of the way.
I hear you, world.
