How I did it: I wrote a check and sent if every month on time. My bank gave me a coupon book to send with each payment. I sometimes paid extra to help battle evil interest. Read how I did it…

A really disappointing paycheck this week. I am depending on money from roommate and the second job to get all the bills paid. Delaying the emergency funding until I get caught up. I need to set a date for the EF to have $1000.
I used to work for JCPenney, and when I was a newbie one of my coworkers tried to get me to apply. She wanted to boost her apps, and she had helped me get a few apps under my belt so I felt a little obligated to her. At first I said no since I knew I would probably get to a point where I couldn’t pay it off in full each month since I was a student. Eventually I caved into her persuasion. Of course I eventually couldn’t pay it off when I bought a mattress (I had been sleeping on the floor in my apartment.) Here I am several years later still struggling with this card.
I have shredded the stupid thing so I can’t dig myself in further. And am currently at about $550 for my balance. My budget is stretched to the max! Seriously we have no cable, thermostat is in the 60’s, only kept internet so we don’t go insane! Sometimes there’s only $5 for groceries after paying bills on payday. Our hours at work were cut to 32 and 30 each. We even got a roommate which is helping a lot, too.
I have a lot of debts to pay back, but I NEED to get rid of this card! It just reminds me of how I gave in to this person and how I gave in to the card so many times! I don’t even like JCPenneys!
