I took driving lessons as a teenager but never really felt comfortable behind the wheel. I have a poor sense of direction, even when walking around, and my visual-spatial sense isn’t very good. I didn’t know how to express this as a teen and was embarrassed to admit that I was scared, especially since teens seem to enjoy teasing each other about getting into crashes and running over old ladies.
Anyway, I got my license but got into an accident shortly thereafter. I was done with driving for a long time after that. 15 years actually. I’ve kept my license current because it is useful for identification. Otherwise I probably would have let it lapse.
Now I’m re-learning to drive because I am traveling in December and would like to rent a car to get around.
I’ve been writing the songs for our school musical for the past several years – last year I created recordings on my home computer. I’d really like to do a nicer version of those, plus all the new ones for the musical this upcoming year.
