Ringworld Engineers – Larry Niven
twilight – Stephanie Meyer
new moon – Stephanie Meyer
eclipse – Stephanie Meyer
breaking dawn – Stephanie Meyer
the dancing wu li masters
brisingr – christopher paolini
So I was in a bit of a funk and decided to sit down and read something mindless and up beat. The ringworld engineers was really good as is most everything larry niven puts out there, and The Dancing Wu Li Masters was a good read for anyone looking for some physics info. Brisingr was a book that simply was missing feeling, could be something is lost in translation? I can only hope.
The Twilight series I picked up because I wanted to know what all the talk was about and see if the good reviews were justified. It could be I’m not a teenager anymore, but it didn’t strike any chords with me. After each of the books I left with the same plodding, melodramatic feeling that was reminiscent of watching 90210 (for those of you old enough to remember the show). The characters are so absorbed with their preceived problems that they spawn new problems. There are a total of three characters developed over the course of 4 books. I tried, but not my cup of tea.
