Dear 43 Things Users,

10 years after introducing 43 Things to the world, we have decided we have met our last goal: completing the incredible experience that has been 43 Things. Please join us in giving one last cheer to all the folks who have shared their goals with the world, as well as all the people who have worked at The Robot Co-op to build this incredible website. We won a Webby Award, published a book, and brought happiness to a lot of people.

Starting today, 43 Things users can export their goals and entries from the site. Starting August 15, we will make the site “read only”. 43 Things users will still be able to view the site and export their content, but we won’t be taking any new content from users. We hope to leave the site up for folks to see and download their content until the end of the year. Ending on New Year’s Eve takes us full circle.

It has been a long ride (one of our original goals was to "build a company that lasts at least 2 years” - we beat that one!) While we wish the site could live on, it has suffered from a number of challenges - changes in how people use the site, the advertising industry, and how search engines view the site. We wish the outcome was different – but we’ve always been realistic about when our goals are met and when they aren't.

As of today, you will be able to download your goals and entries. See more about that on the FAQ page. Thanks for 10 great years of goal-setting and achieving.

Have my wisdom teeth taken out

I had one of 3 taken out earlier in the summer. Waiting on an appointment with the oral surgeon for to have the last two removed.

#20 Moroccan Preserved Lemons (& clementines)

So I’ve always had to wing it when making tajine as there are no preserved lemons to be found where I am. Hopefully, no more! I’m finally making use of those mason jars I keep saving. They’re sitting in a cupboard just waiting to get used in a month!
Also I had a big box of clementines on the counter so I decided to do a jar of those as well… can’t wait to see how they turn out. :)

work work work...

I went in a few months ago and consolidated the debt I had accumulated. Now it’s just a war of attrition!

Learn to fly fish

I’ve been looking to do this for some time now. After finding out a few of the people I know are fly fishermen (and grilling them for information!), I picked up some basic gear and am looking forward to trying this once the rivers start to run.

Can’t wait!

#19 Lemon Pound Cake

Since I’ve been experimenting so much lately I decided to phone up my mum for this recipe. It was always one of my favourites growing up and even though there was a little less love in this time, it still tasted great.

#18 Veg Lasagna

So after reading a few recipes online I decided to whip one up on my own with Zucchini, eggplant, mushrooms, tomatoes and roasted red peppers. Good enough I could eat it all week long… lucky me ;)

#16 Flamiche aux Poireaux

In english you say? Leek tart. I adjusted the recipe slightly, added some cremini mushrooms to the filling and used fontina cheese instead of gruyère. Yet again, Delicious!

Without working on this specifically I’ve improved… up to 30 now.

#14 Lebanese Pickled Turnip

Been meaning to do this one for awhile, but never seemed to get around to it. Finally picked up some turnip and beet on my last grocery run, and got to it. 1 week and I’ll hopefully be eating some delicious treats!

#13 Fallafel Wraps

I made some falafel the other day along with tabbouleh and hummus. Wrapped in a Pita with some tiziki (was too lazy to make the garlic sauce) and it was pretty good.

#12 Meatloaf!

I had a hankering for something quick and easy. Mixed up some beef with carrot, onion, spinach and then topped it all off with some home tomato sauce. Quite nice, and the extra froze well to be cooked at a later date.

#11 White Bean Parmigiana Soup

Another great vegetarian soup. Also had Kale in it which made it extra healthy. Worth nothing that under cooking kale leaves it quite bitter… nothing a bit of extra time on the stove (and a pinch of salt) didn’t fix!
