I like Alaska, and I have to say I’ve met some crazy people and have some crazy stories from the state, but there is so much more to do out there. I think that AK is where criminals go to escape the law but still live in the US. If you want to live in AK for a long time, you have to be a specific type of person with a passion for the outdoors and an appreciation for solitude. At the same time you have to be rugged, and not care about pop culture at all. Everything in this state is permanently 10 years behind.

You stop making rational decisions after day 2 and can barely participate in logical conversations after that. As long as you keep your humor through the experience it's awesome because it really seems like you've been awake for 6 days because of all the ad… Read how I did it…
How I did it: It was offered as a class in my college (I go to school in Alaska). We stayed with a woman who owned the dogs and had participated in many races and weight-pulling competitions. There are many people who own and board dogs in Knik, AK, as well as lots of people who will take you on tours. Read how I did it…
How I did it: I was in Costa Rica for a study abroad program and took a day trip to the cloud rainforest. There were a lot of activities there, one being horseback riding. They let the horses walk, trot, and canter. It was so scary I screamed at first, then I started to get the hang of it and it was so fun! I would reccomend it for everyone. I read a story once about a woman with multiplesclerosis who was able to move again after riding horses. Read how I did it…
