quit drinking soda...again (read all 2 entries…)
Day 11 2 months ago

I did what I said I would do. I quit drinking soda when I went back to college. Actually, I quit the day before I came back, because the day before, I had had two sodas, and felt completely awful. Jittery. Heart palpitations. Not cool. I don’t want to do that to my body. And the fact that I had been drinking so much caffeine that my body stopped responding to it (before I quit the first time) was just scary.

No more soda.

Go to the dentist (read all 2 entries…)
Trip One 2 months ago

I went to the dentist! However, I need to go back two more times. This time, they told me I had early signs of gum disease and took x-rays. Next time I go, they’re gonna do a teeth cleaning and check for cavities, and then I have to go back and get the cavities filled. Fun stuff. :(

be comfortable speaking in public
First Week of School 2 months ago

Yesterday, I attended my first class of the semester that’s big on class discussion. I generally hate class discussion, because I learn better from listening and working things out in my own head. Class discussion forces me to work things out ahead of everyone else, so that I can add to the conversation without being like ten minutes behind. I prefer to think through something, come to a conclusion (or a question, or something), and then say it out loud. I don’t think that’s too much to ask. I also tend to forget what I’m going to say when it’s finally my turn to talk.

Today, I have to go talk to a freshman class and introduce myself as their peer mentor type person. Ugh. I’m not sure yet if I have to stay the whole class today, but next week (and for the rest of the semester), I’ll have to. And then occasionally, I have to lead discussions and teach them “college skills.” :( My simple tutoring job is not so simple anymore.
