So I’ve decided that I do want to do this after all. I’d initially decided to give up on this, but now I think it’s something I’d quite like to do anyway. It really helps with my language learning and stuff. Plus it keeps me off the streets. (Joke.)

How I did it: I decided (possibly quite audaciously) that my ABRSM grade 1-2 books from my childhood weren't quite challenging enough, so I dug around the family house and found my aunt's old scores from over 30 years ago. I played for an hour every day for over a year... and practice does make perfect. I don't think I'm particularly gifted in the psychomotor department but now I'm playing much better than I'd ever thought I could. Read how I did it…
Went to an orthopaedic clinic… Apparently the cartilage behind my kneecap is damaged. I thought swimming was a low impact sport?!
I’ve been spending my time just sitting around on my arse with my leg elevated. Argh. I’ve got a tangible awareness of my excess energy and it’s driving me crazy.
Summary: My bum knee is really bumming me out. Badum-ching.
I’ve grown up with Harry Potter, reading the books all through my childhood and adolescence. And I’ve watched the actors grow up with me.
That said, I’ve never actually seen any of the Harry Potter movies. It’s a long and convoluted story, but the main thing is that, having missed out on the first movie, I wanted to wait until the end of the series so I could watch them all at one go. And now that it’s ending… I guess it’s time.
I’m gathering a group of friends together. This’ll be great. And tiring.
