Failure. I don’t know what the single guy I’m leaving behind is going to do, and I’m sure he won’t stop completely, at least not soon, As for creating a working group, I’ve failed.

This is of course a very difficult goal to assess as “done”. I’m back to the state where I can truthfully say that I am reading a book or three, while I’m connected to the internet. I could read more. I will probably read more than this. But it is good.
Even more important than articulating French fluently is understanding those that do exactly that—I try to improve my listening comprehension by watching films in French (dubs of films I know anyway, possibly with subtitles) and, sometimes, listening to French satellite or internet radio. I also listen to a fair share of French music, but I doubt that helps a lot. Going to France and speaking with locals is, of course, the non plus ultra of learning to understand, well, locals…
I’ve been to:
Bayern
Rheinland-Pfalz
Nordrhein-Westfalen
Sachsen
Brandenburg
Berlin
and travelled through:
Baden-Württemberg
Mecklenburg-Vorpommern
and I’ll probably go to Hessen in May. That leaves 7 states.
