I’ve been watching this, and been investing in the current precious metals market for several years now. The majority of Americans have no clue what is taking place. But as the US dollar continues to sink, interest rates continue to rise, world instability increases, and other powers in the world look to diversify their reserves of US dollars, etc., etc., etc…(oh yeah did I mention the manipulation of the price of gold over the past 30 years… google GATA) a great opportunity exists for those possessing the knowledge.
I think this goal is very doable… each week that goes by, I’m making more (on paper) with my gold and silver stocks than I am in my day job. I look it as the next boom… like tech stocks in the mid 90’s, and I plan to be a part of it.
When the DOW tanks, people’s IRA’s are losing considerable value due to inflation, and the US debt continues out of control, the average joe will eventually learn about the fortunes being made in the precious metals markets. But that will more likely be around 2009, and I will have taken my profits elsewhere.
Gold is going to at least $1500… and I plan to take advantage of the general public’s ignorance to what is going on… Notice that gold is at a 27 year high, and the mainstream media barely whispers about its incredible performance over the past five years.
Email me if you are interested in learing more.

No, I don’t want to create a commune and hang out with a bunch of stinky hippies… although I have no problem with stinky hippy communes… my wife on the other hand prefers clean, more modern accomodations.
What I envision is hooking up with 10 – 20 families that would be interested in purchasing a large piece of land (50-100 acres)somewhere on Hood Canal, the Washington Coast, Salt Spring Island, B.C., etc. The emphasis is not profit driven, but instead to create a irreplacable getaway that survives over time, creates endless memories, preserves and conserves the land and its beauty, etc. Pooling resources would allow the purchase of a spectacular piece of property!
I know someone who is part of a 40 year land co-op on Hood Canal with about 80 acres. I have their bylaws, etc. and would like to run it in a similar fashion.
It’s mostly a dream right now (2006), but I am always looking, and I thought this would be a great way to get the word out. If you have any interest in more info or discussing this idea, please drop me a line (dennis@lapchis.com). Maybe we can make this dream a reality!

I have been in the tech field for years, but never really had a good grasp on software development. Ruby on Rails appears to be a great application and something that my company could benefit from… and I think it’s time I put forth the effort to learn how to program, and better understand how to create a database from scratch.
