I’m a senior in college, so not a week goes by when I’m not asked, “So, what are you doing after graduation?” I’m sure I’m not alone when I say this annoys the shit out of me, but anyway, whenever I’m asked this, I usually respond that I’m applying for a fellowship to study Korean. This fellowship is supposed to lead to a career in the FBI, which I always explain is my dream. Now, I am actually applying for this fellowship, and working for the FBI actually is an aspiration of mine…but as far as “dreams” go, ehh…I want to be a film actress.
Because this dream sounds ridiculous (come on, who doesn’t want to be an actress), I never divulge this to anyone…not even my boyfriend…who also dreams of becoming an actor. As crazy as the dream is, however, I do think I can do it.
Anyone have any suggestions on how I can do this? I’ve taken Korean going on 3 years now, and I still feel like my speaking and listening skills suck ass. My mom is Korean and has suggested I watch a bunch of Korean dramas, since she learned English by watching American soap operas. I plan on doing this (since I love kdramas anyway…sooooooo addicting), but I’m open to other suggestions.
