...I might be moving there within the next couple of months. I have decided that I need a bigger city and a different culture for a while. The town I live in in Sweden is world-famous for two things: it is a UNESCO world heritage site, and it is very pro-Nazi. I am sick of the racism, and I have to get out of here ASAP.

How I did it: I used to hate being outdoors for very long (what with the bugs, the cold/extreme heat...etc. etc. etc.) but then I got some walking sticks for free from a friend of mine. The walking sticks phenomenon has not hit the USA yet, as far as I know...but they are HUGELY popular here in Sweden. They give you something to do with your hands while walking, and they let you go a lot faster, so that you don't get that bored/panicky feel… Read how I did it…
How I did it: I was out the other day and I ran into a place selling frogs. One of the frogs had been injured, and, when the person selling frogs asked if I might be willing to foster/adopt a sick frog and take care of it...I said yes! And they gave me a ton of stuff for free!!...I got the frog for free, as well as her terrarium, some crickets, dirt, a water dish, and an old hollowed-out log for her to hide in. It's been a fantastic e… Read how I did it…
How I did it: I am making writing into a daily practice. I write every single day now...anywhere from 20 to 100+ minutes per day. I do "morning pages" every day, and have for quite a few years. I read about them in Julia Cameron's "The Artist's Way". Then I read books like "The Right to Write" and "Writing down the Bones" and I make sure to complete at least one or two of the exercises every day. In addition, I… Read how I did it…

I am working on my B.A. now, finally, after a little bit of a hiatus from college (7 years), during which time I did a bunch of other stuff…studied Swedish and became fluent in it, lived in Sweden (twice), visited France, Holland, Denmark, and spent a day in Germany…ran away to Mexico for a while with a boy, went skydiving twice (one tandem, one level-one semi-solo), spent Christmas skiing, got married way too young, got divorced way too young…joined a couple of choirs, got vocal lessons, wrote a ton, completed The Artist’s Way, cut off unhealthy contact with unhealthy people, worked at a bunch of different places…car rental place, two different interior design stores, as a translator, an interpreter, a factory worker, a bank teller, a salesperson at the mall, a baker, a canvasser, at a college and a massage school, at an Indian restaurant in Gothenburg and an Ice cream shop in Copenhagen where I was only paid in ice cream…ran out of money and had a bunch of my stuff stolen from me in Denmark, leading to about a month and a half living in a homeless shelter there until I could get back on my feet again, learned a few words in Czech, learned the Russian alphabet in script and print, learned the Arabic numerals (which are really Hindi), studied a bit about Islam, studied art, twice…studied theology and metaphysics, Christian Science and Calvinism…fell in love with the internet, developed the most amazing friendship of my life, lived with traveling carpet-selling gypsies from Kazakhstan, learned how to cook halal, spent a bunch of time in therapy, studied various forms of self-development (learned all about Scanners and Creatives and Knowledge-builder personality types…got my enneagram results done)...dated a lot, etc. etc. etc…
At any rate, now I am back in college, and I love it, much to my surprise…though it is really hard to keep all the balls in the air when I am studying so many freaking things at the same time.
Right now, I am studying Spanish IV, linguistics, and a full art degree all at once, in addition to being involved in a new group where I am hoping I will learn to live more healthfully.
WISH ME LUCK!!!
