How I did it: I started saving a little each month in college. I had about 2 month's expenses in college. Once I graduated I slowly increased my savings while paying a little extra on my student loans. Eventually I had enough for a down payment on a house! Then I had to start over - saving a little each month. As my expenses increased (house repairs, car expenses, more insurance, etc), I had to increase the amount of savings. Read how I did it…
How I did it: Setting up specific events (like submitting to a conference) forced me to just do it! I spoke about 8 times in the past year to groups of 20 to 200. I downloaded some software called Slife that tracks the time spent on all applications on the computer. It also will track specific URL’s or files. You can set time limits too.
Seeing how much time I spend on the computer and the internet specifically is helping me spend more time doing other things.
looking at the list above, none of it has been done. a few attempts at filing, more photos are posted on the web, some clothes have been donated, but that’s about it.
of course i’ve traveled over 50,000 miles for work in the last 5 months, so i haven’t been home much.
