I am not a big ‘Dummies’ book fan, but this one is quite good. I now understand rugby, and have a good grasp of the laws.
The Bicycle Wheel by Jobst Brandt is the best book on this subject.
To learn just get some only (and not too out of true) wheels. Take them apart carefully and then you can put them back together.
