My dad died two weeks ago tonight. My brothers and I were with him, holding him, kissing him as he passed.
I miss him and hope he’s OK.

How I did it: I started by putting clear nail strengthener polish on every day. Instead of picking at my nails I would pick at the polish. I also kept telling myself that I deserved to have nice hands that I wasn't ashamed of.When my nails got a little longer I got a manicure. I explained to the manicurist that I was a nail biter but wanted to stop. I was a little embarrassed since my nails were so much shorter than everyone else's, but the manicurist … Read how I did it…

Well – I’m not saying I learned, but I’ve defnintely started. Bought red, pink, purple and blue perennials and annuals, as well as tomatoes and herbs – dug up some weedy, grassy patches of dirt, and just got to planting. It’s not the easiest work – especially when you have a lot of rocks and roots in the soil. But after a couple of weeks it’s a pleasure to go outside on my patio and look at pretty flowers instead of yukky crabgrass.
The best part was working with my 18-year-old daughter – with no distractions. We just worked and talked – and that was lovely. Now it’s just maintenance work – a bit of weeding, a lot of watering, and keeping my fingers crossed that everything lives. :-)
Just bought a Prius and we love it. It gets great gas mileage (so we save tons of money) and doesn’t spew out a lot of pollution (so we feel very self-righteous). Plus it’s comfortable, big inside, and has lots of extras.
When we get another car someday I think we’ll make it another hybrid.
