Since I started teaching in September, I was able to help this one child the most. He was a struggling retained first grader (i.e. this was his second go round of first grade). When he started in my classroom, his writing often looked like this: “KQZRSTDMLT” That was his whole writing and he would illustrate a beautiful picture to go with it. Sadly, he has left my room, but he now writes words that he gets from my word wall as opposed to random letters. He also uses capital letters and periods. I’m just so proud of him :)
A great relief

It was really nice to finally go and enjoy myself on vacation. I didn’t have anyone hanging around me and nagging me about things. I was just able to relax and have a great time at the beach.
