Seriously…these “cars” are just the physical manifestation of having given up on life and on happiness. Clearly you’ve decided that it’s time to be more responsible and practical and do what your nagging wife tells you. You’re whipped! There is no way anyone could ever find these things attractive! I bow my head everytime one passes. They are a hearse for youth and optimism. They are an abomination and I hereby solemnly swear that as long as I shall live, I will NEVER EVER join the ranks of the pussywhipped “might-as-well-be-walking-dead” and buy one!

How I did it: It was about 4:30AM. I was in a little bus with a few other backpackers driving north up the spine of Vietnam. We passed through the former DMZ and the city of Danang and it was as we emerged from that city that we passed a beach that was just being illuminated by the amber light of the sun dragging itself out of the only cloud on the horizon. We pulled over and walked down to the beach. We stayed there staring for about 15 minutes until … Read how I did it…
How I did it: It took me six years. It could have been done in five if I devoted myself fully to it. It can't be done in less than four. If someone gets a black belt in less than four years it's not worth much and chances are, they've gone to a commercial organisation that churns out black belts for cash. It's hard to focus on something this hard for that long and the only way to do it is to learn to love it (patterns, sparring and everything else) and… Read how I did it…
How I did it: After two years of thinking about it, I happened to pass a tattoo parlour and finally said...enough thinking - I'm doing it tomorrow. And I did. I went home, printed off the thing I wanted and brought it in the next day and it was all over in 45 mins for €130. Read how I did it…

I have tried so many times and been denied everytime for different reasons. When I was in college, the blood bus would come around once a year but I never found out about it until after it was gone! Once I was denied because I had a cold (I live in Ireland! It’s wet and windy! I always have a cold!) Another time I had got a tattoo in the past six months! Another time I had been to a tropical malarial zone in the past six months! Another time (while I was in a tropical zone) I got so close to giving it. They were just about to sign me up but then they said no because I was backpacking alone and they were afraid I would leave the building, promptly faint and there would be no one to help me!!! Why does no one want my blood!!! It’s perfectly good I swear!!! One of these days I’m gonna give some of it away one way or another!!!
I’ve started trying to do sit-ups and push-ups every morning. I remember to do it about half the mornings. I’m up to 60 of each now. By the end of June ‘09, I want to be doing 100 of each every morning.
