I remember as a child driving past fields of long grass and just longing to have the day uninterrupted to lie in them…. Wow I can’t imagine actually doing it now with all the commitments, wife, kids etc. but I think I’ll do this. A whole day staring up…..wow

How I did it: Went during the winter which isn't recommended in all the guide books but I wouldn't have had it a any other way. Did every activity that was available to us, crawled through an ice glacier, trecked up a mountain, snowmobiling, dogsledding, a northern lights night... you name it. AMAZING Read how I did it…
How I did it: Saw glimpses during day trips in Svalbard and was content with that. Would have loved to have seen more in Svalbard but they are far more illusive than the books make out. Then on our way home we booked a Sami/Northern Lights dinner in Tromso, in northern Norway. Despite the forecast for the lights only being a 2 (on a scale of 0-9) we got an amazingly stunning view...... it fell over the whole sky. The tour operator said it was the best … Read how I did it…
For me this is like a Chuck thing. In the tv show Chuck there is a character who is essentially the perfect guy…. physical speciman, leaves his shit at work, selfless huband, yet he is still human & his nicname is “awesome”. This is easy for me because to be “awesome” requires a day to day commitment and to be able to think “well, what would awesome do in this situation” is a nice way to go about it. In my opionion it will take a lot of awesome decisions to one day turn around and decide I am awesome
Drinking too much on Fridays just sets the whole weekend up for a downward spiral. A movie then bed and getting stuck into jobs I’ve put off for ever on Saturday just really sets it up nicely. I am actually looking forward to my weekends more now then I used to.
