I am brushing up basics of Java from Bruce Eckel’s Thinking in Java. It’s probably the best book to learn java and oop. I also have Java How to Program as a side reference along with this book.
I am not buying MacBook pro atleast this year and here are my reasons. Ofcourse if I had some extra cash I would definelty buy a MBP.
it has spelling mistakes for my name, but i will use it for now.
Now i need an international driving licence
After failing my driving test (over a very small thing) I didn’t venture to give it back again.I have been driving for over 12 years now (surprisingly in my country , driving without a license is not a big deal..unless you kill some one)
So I think I really need to get my act together and get the dam paper
I seriously need to do some thing about it. With a new job, and the extra time I can get with it, I think I will join a gym and shed those extra pounds from my self.
I gave the driving test and failed :(
apprently I cannot reverse properly ( I hit a cone on the test ground)
I plan to give it again in April
On my new job I have a gnetoo on a Inetl P4 3.0 Ghz HT machine and I am loving it
Its not like I have not Installed gentoo before, but this time I want to do it right from start and on my home machine. The main hitch is my ISDN modem driver (Santis Communicator Seimens /USB-External) which is no where to be found for linux.
My first week at job was interesting. I have found a place which has a good culture and ethics and pays good too. All I need to do work hard so I get promoted sooner.
I have been offered my first technical job at a small tech firm in Islamabad. I am already a bit late in starting a career , so I hope that I am able to work hard and make up for some lost time and experience.
After a period of two months , I have now atleast one solid job offer. The pay is not much , but the work is interesting. Hopefully by next week I will be working at some place FULLTIME :)
I have addded a simple XHTML 1.1 page to my site. It just has links and few Google ADs for now. Atleast its a start. I will be adding more and more stuff later.
I got my learners permit this week from Islamabad. It was not a big deal. But now i need to practice and get my drivers licence as soon as possible. I need to practice , study the rule book and get my specs :)
My BS Computer System Engieering is finished by today. It was an uneventful afternoon while I got my certificates. All because my degree has been full of upsets. I am relieved if not happy. But now comes the tough part. Coping with what I have done for the rest of my life.
Now I need to get a job and get some experience as I have nill.
Well its 3 more weeks till my BS Engineering studies (hopefully) finish. I really need to muster up and study all I can. I hope that I would be atleast be able to maintain my CGPA :)
I have got hold of “Agile web development with Ruby on Rails”. Although its not the latest version, I hope that I will be able to finish the basics by the time my semester at GIKI starts.
I will be looking into the basics of Ruby itself before diving into Rails itself.
Since I only use open souce softwares/operating systems , it was not easy to find a good solution to teach me self touch typing.KTOUCH is a good software but lacks lots of goodies , like basic finger position lessosn etc.
I am hoping that by the end of this year my typing would be alot faster and accurate.
