Run! Three times a week. Every week. (read all 3 entries…)
so far so good 3 weeks ago

this is really going well. i’m running, for the most part, every other day. if my knees feel a little wobbly, i’ll take an extra day off, but so far so good. i’m running ~4 miles each time.
i just read a book on running for mortals that had some good information in it. still hoping to gradually increase distance so that i can bag a half marathon next year (end of April).
i like running. it’s a tremendous help with mental and emotional fatigue.

I FINALLY am going to be able to mark this off my list. I wanted to do a fun road trip this weekend and googled “treehouses in the southeast” and poof reservations have been made. i could not be more excited. this has been on my list for a very, very long time. yah!!!!!!!!!!

broccoli and avacado salad 8 months ago

sooooo good and simple:
1 pound of steamed broccoli is cooled down and tossed with ripe, cubed avacado. a concoction of olive oil (2tbsp), lemon juice (2tbsp) and coarse mustard (1tbsp) is mixed and then drizzled on top.

yum.

Travel More Frequently. (read all 5 entries…)
i'm really 9 months ago

kind of done with this for right now. i had a great traveling year in 2007. but finances have kept me closer to home since then and i’m perfectly o.k with that right now. i’ve gotten a few trips in to colorado, but that’s it. i’ve traveled at least two weekends out of each month mainly to eastern TN and western NC. so, i’m not going to far away places, but i am going to places i love and that’s the most important thing.

i’m marking this as done now.

a broccoli soup recipe last week that i got from Vegetarian Times and I really liked it. will make it again soon.

i haven’t made a frittata in a while and i have a plethora of local, hormone free eggs that a friend gave me. think i’ll try a new frittata recipe soon.

much better and am noticing a “this is it!!” attitude that i’ve been able to maintain for a couple of months now. tulips and cherry trees and forsythia always help!!!

no whitewater kayaking until 04/17
the horror! the horror! 9 months ago

i’ve been kayaking so much i’ve worn my shoulders out. especially my right one. they’ve been bothering me for weeks, but i love getting out on the water so much i have completely ignored them. and now i am really hurting. so. no more kayaking until a spring clinic i signed up for on the 17th. i need to be in good shape for it, so i have to make myself not only stay home, but rest my shoulders for a while (no dog walking, no heavy lifting, no major yard work). i need to be vigilant about icing them too!

why is rest. rest. rest. so freaking hard?

March 30-April 5th 9 months ago

1) find area to plant asparagus, clean out bed, and plant away!

2) eat healthfully. more fruits. less dairy. i need to be more creative with breakfasts.

3) work. seriously. i need to remember how great it feels to be productive and go with that feeling. i’m so close to a break through, i don’t know why i’m putting up so much resistance.

4) wash face, brush teeth every night before bed. do it.

5) no big partying this week. i was pretty straight-laced last week and like where that left me, so i need to keep it up.

o.k. 9 months ago

i actually bought asparagus starters last week. they have been in my fridge and i have not planted them yet. it’s been really rainy here, but i need to get them in the ground. knowing me, i’ll wait too late. i need to force myself to take care of this in the next seven days! i’m so close!

been stuck on fake meat tacos for a couple of weeks. taco night at my house has become pretty festive. i have people over and they never even realize that the taco meat isn’t real! to make it more healthful i serve fresh baby salad greens, tomatoes, and avacados along with it as well as black beans with sauteed onions, red pepper, and garlic. the sour cream is fake as well (dairy-free) and no one knows the difference.

this week, i’m trying out a recipe for a souffle. and a new broccoli soup recipe. yum!

hmmmm. let’s see.

1) stay active. continue yogilates class. try to bike/walk more to and from work.
update: went to both yogilates classes, but didn’t get to do much else. the weather was pretty nasty all week. did kayak on friday.

2) continue to eat healthfully. lots of fruits and veggies. maybe a little less dairy.
update: went pretty well. only hang up has been dairy. greek yogurt for breakfast most mornings because it’s so easy.

3) really focus on making progress at work. i really need to do better with this…..
update: not good bleh.

Whoa! I kind of fell off the wagon on this one and need to get back on board.

1) action! i intend to get moving again. walk, yoga, weights…..
update: i did pretty good. yogilates class twice. paddled 19 miles of whitewater over the weekend. and took the dogs for a long walk. not bad.

2) consumption! i intend to eat better this week. lots of fruits and vegetables. yum.
update: good progress. many more salads!

3) work! i intend to stay more focused and get a little more done.
update: my weakest of the three mini goals….. i really need to do better. hmmmmm.
