I’ve gotten my fourth stripe on my white belt, which means the blue belt is next.
I trained on Wednesday with a guy my own rank. We each had different strengths. I was very good with the handstand sweep; he was better with the omoplata sweep.
Then we rolled. I did very well, submitting him once with a kimura and a couple of times with chokes.
When I switched to go with one of the more experienced blue belts, though, he kicked my butt. He was more explosive than I was. I had a strong defense, though, and it took him a long time to submit me once, and once was all he got.
Finally, I ended up with a guy with four stripes, and it was basically the opposite of my experience with the blue belt above. I completely dominated him, but was unable to submit.
I need to get that armbar from North-South. I’m getting the arm and completely controlling it – which is the hard part, I’m told – but I never finish. I’ll have to work on that.
