become fluent in french

Studied French for what seemed like ages (7th grade through graduate school! – 12 years) and it was well worth the effort. I was fortunate to be able to live in France with a French family (during year 9!)and the day to day interactions really solidified my language skills. They spoke no English at all and it really forced me to stop thinking in English and translating to French. The key is to learn to think in French and to not be afraid to make mistakes!
