Wordpress is awesome!
My plants are flowering and I am anticipating to harvest in about 3 weeks. Very exciting! I built a raised garden with some additional lumber. (Note: Found out the hard way that treated lumber is not a good idea) Then, took a trip to a friend’s horse ranch for some fertilizer ;) Finally I bought about 10 bags of top soil from Lowes and planted some very young plants. Overall it was about a $40 investment. I am keeping my fingers crossed.
Leading on trad was awesome. I actually took a good fall at the top of one of the routes (about 80 feet). The good thing is that my gear held. Can’t wait to go again.
We had to reschedule twice (due to weather and pilot issues) – but it was worth it. What an amazing rush! If you do it, get a video. It goes so fast that you want something to remember the entire experience.
It feels good to be doing my part to help reduce waste. I would think that the cashers would be more receptive and helpful. Surprisingly, they sort-of look at me like I am stupid when I pull out my pre-purchased bags. Pretty interesting.
Well I passed the test and have fulfilled all the other requirements. So now I am a qualified Google advertising professional.
Last weekend I climbed The Nose Route (4 pitches ~ 500ft) at Looking Glass in the Pisgah National Forest in North Carolina. The pic is a bit blurry but it shows the distance of the climb..whew!
If Bear Grylls can do it, so can I.. Seriously, I feel pretty stupid if the first humans on earth can make a fire with two sticks & I can not.
Cold Mountain is one of few peaks in Appalachia over 6,000 ft. I have backpacked to an area called “Deep Gap” (elevation about 3,500ft) and camped for the night. From Deep Gap, I turned back and ended my trip. This area is about half way up Cold Mountain. Although I never really had set intentions of climbing Cold Mountain on that trip, I have regretted it ever since. I guess I just want to summit the mountain and bag another peak.
So, I set this goal to live in a green vw bus a long time ago. However, my goal would be reached if I just spend one night in my green vw bus. woohoo!
I would love to be able to identify storm clouds and know the names of different clounds.
It’s the big 30 for Beau this year, so my gift to myself is do to a mulipitch climb in November. I am dreaming of climbing either table rock or looking glass in Western NC. Currently, I am getting to do a fair amount of sport climbing and working on my rope technique. Hopefully, I will be able to learn the skills required over the next several months. Worst case senrio: hire a guide.
I decided in 5th grade to thru-hike the AT someday. My life has been enriched by many small trips on the AT, yet the the BIG hike still sits on my “things to do before I die” list. I’m not dead yet!
