Yep, it really is and worth going to. I travleled by myself there in Feb 2004 and had no problems at all. If you are into sailing you should check out http://www.ecocruz.co.nz/. The best thing I did in all of New Zealand. Fabulous for those who want to learn more about sailing or who just want to get out on the water.
