Dear 43 Things Users,

10 years after introducing 43 Things to the world, we have decided we have met our last goal: completing the incredible experience that has been 43 Things. Please join us in giving one last cheer to all the folks who have shared their goals with the world, as well as all the people who have worked at The Robot Co-op to build this incredible website. We won a Webby Award, published a book, and brought happiness to a lot of people.

Starting today, 43 Things users can export their goals and entries from the site. Starting August 15, we will make the site “read only”. 43 Things users will still be able to view the site and export their content, but we won’t be taking any new content from users. We hope to leave the site up for folks to see and download their content until the end of the year. Ending on New Year’s Eve takes us full circle.

It has been a long ride (one of our original goals was to "build a company that lasts at least 2 years” - we beat that one!) While we wish the site could live on, it has suffered from a number of challenges - changes in how people use the site, the advertising industry, and how search engines view the site. We wish the outcome was different – but we’ve always been realistic about when our goals are met and when they aren't.

As of today, you will be able to download your goals and entries. See more about that on the FAQ page. Thanks for 10 great years of goal-setting and achieving.

be a good father (read all 2 entries…)

i haven’t been monitoring my 43 things recently…

looks like a lot of improvements & i’m amazed at the explosion of daddy’s that care about being a good one :)

actually i’m not – it’s one of the best things to do w/ your life…

contribute something to Wikipedia
don't know that it's finished but...

i entered the word “podcasting” in wikipedia last fall when folks started taking sides on what to name “it”...

wikipedia seemed like a natural way to settle it – community based, open source, self correcting and historically documented…

i guess it helped a little because the definition is good and referenced constantly now…

so it was worth it…

the first entry in the history is my ip address btw – i wasn’t aware of the login aspect until the next time i came back – which is when it says glemak…

pay attention to pete
you can find him here

give my gmail invites to anyone needing one
ping me - glemak (at) gmail (dot) com

be glad to help out anyone who wants an account and needs an invite :)

write more short stories
writing all the time

just need to finish them :)

Try out 43 Things

so far – so good

be a good father (read all 2 entries…)
the most important job

i have two teenage boys – and am constantly working to be the best dad possible…

support podcasting
great shows just waiting for you

whether your producing, evangelizing or listening – it’s real and growing…

try out these sites to join in the fun too:

ipodder.orgwikipedia – podcasting

nomadic/automated – audio/video – content/aggregation

Learn how to snowboard
totally addictive & fun

concur that if your a good skier, switching to snowboarding could be harder than for those who’ve never skied…
i am a lifetime surfer, who’d skied a little, but really took up snowboarding because i thought it’d be close to the feeling of surfing…
after about the first year it did, but for that first year it was a very humbling experience – but well worth it :)

snowboard as much as possible
pray for snow

i have two teenages – all three of us love to snowboard…
we go to vermont whenever possible, but our schedules don’t always allow us to go as often as we’d like…
