So, after being disappointed the first time I went rafting, I decided to give it another try. I went with the college group at my church again, though it was mostly different people from last year. I’m so glad I went because the rapids were SO much better this time around! the weather was way less hot, so that was a good thing; no sunburn this year! We didn’t swim at all this year, but that was ok because there were very few times when we weren’t in a rapid or preparing for the next one. I think everyone had a really good time! :)

How I did it: I found out about the audition in Boston on Friday, took the bus down from NYC on Sat. to register and auditioned on Sunday. We waited in the rain for three hours before going into the uninclosed stadium to sit in the rain. We had to put up with the B.S. stuff they film for filler for the broadcast, and then just waited forever to sing for the producers. Read how I did it…
How I did it: I just went to the website, postcrossing.com, and signed up; it's simple and takes just a few minutes. Then you can start sending postcards! I started off by buying postcard lots on ebay, but since I live near NYC, it's super easy to just buy postcards when I find myself in the city. I like to get a variety so that I'm not sending everyone the same cards. I also like to buy postcards of well-known tourist attractions, like the SoL, Centra… Read how I did it…
How I did it: The first show I saw was with the family I worked for; I'm a nanny. We all went to see "The Little Mermaid" and while I don't know that I would have chosen it for my first Broadway musical, I can't deny that the sets and the talent is amazing! I'm not sure how Linda came about obtaining the tickets... probably just from the box office at about $100ea. I recently went and saw "Guys and Dolls" by myself and it was great. I'm biased, though,… Read how I did it…

so, 17/50. gosh, I thought it was more!
the worth it I put on this goal is only given with reservation; I definitely did not feel the exclamation mark after it. While I guess I should say that all the trouble I went through (9 hours roundtrip from NYC, several hours on public transportation, standing in the rain with no umbrella for 3+ hours, waiting “inside” an uninclosed stadium in the off-and-on rain for 4 hours, and the list goes on) should make me say it wasn’t worth it, since I didn’t even get to see the judges OR even Ryan Seacrest. Despite all that, though, I’m still at least a little glad to be able to say that I did it. I mean, this is a major part of today’s pop culture and to be able to say that I participated, even minorly, in it is fun. AND, I’ll probably try again next year now that I know a little more about the process.
