I don’t think this is in the cards for me this year- it was one of my 40/40 challenges, but I am just not feeling it. Maybe I am not a novel writer. Which is ok. I’ll think about it for a few more days before I officially pull the plug.

How I did it: My friend and I signed up with Karen Gros who teaches French Cooking in her home - she also takes food trips to France with groups. We signed up for the Julie & Julia class that included bruschetta like the kind made in the film (frying that bread in olive oil makes all the difference) and boeuf bourguignon from Julia Child's impeccable cook book. The class had 11 students (all women) and Karen whirling around the kitchen. We chopped, … Read how I did it…
How I did it: My friend Carol asked me months ago if I would speak to the local Rotary group about my work. I said yes for two reasons, one I wanted to help Carol and I wanted to have the opportunity to share about what I do for our community. The real reason I said yes though was because I wanted to keep practicing my public speaking. I get REALLY nervous and I think only with practice will I get better. Read how I did it…
How I did it: Each Sunday I make a pot of soup. At first I followed recipes that called for special ingredients and combined things in ways I wouldn't have thought about. After about 6 months of that I started to make soups just from what we had at home. They started out simply and developed into great soups! Now we always have leftovers that can be enjoyed throughout the week - and our options for a great soup are limitless. Read how I did it…

I used to laugh that it was
a good thing
that we didn’t have a garbage disposal
when she was young
I wonder how I could have made
a better thing
by being more patient
when she was young
I felt rushed to get
everything done
running to catch up
when she was young
I remember her big eyes peering
at everything
taking it all in so serious
when she was young

Of course this is the week when PBS had the Botany of Desire author and plant guru on – Michael Pollan. I had read the book and so many other articles that reference him. Anyway, I just worked on my laptop while my husband watched it. So I could actually hear it… I is a bit hard to give up TV when you live in a 800 square foot house, but I didn’t watch.
