Neupotz, near the French border, is the village of my GGG grandfather. He left there in 1851, at 20 years old, to forge a new life in America.
i want to walk the same streets that he did … i want to walk on the grass that he did … i want to connect with my German Roots.

So much for prayer … if God moves and speaks through people … if God has no hands, no feet but those of his followers … then God has succeeded in pushing me away.

Don’t let that title deter you. Just be careful how much of your soul is bared on those pages. i am now, literally, an open book. Keep your secrets while baring your soul.

For me, i realized it was time to quit when i’d want to throw a cigarette away 3/4 of the way through, but continue to smoke it simply because i paid for it. i got on the patch, and did it. You can do it, too.

What my year of sobriety has taught me is that many of my attitudes toward drinking were SO off and abnormal … but i thought they were normal because i grew up seeing them in practice day in and day out. A drink before noon? Sure! Downing AT LEAST or 5 beers a day? No prob! Drinking alone? You bet!
i’ve learned so much from this past year, and i’ve found a belief in myself that the depressants in the alcohol has never let me see before!

i got my first job in graphic design at the age of 16, drawing designs for screen printed t-shirts. Now, 17 years later, i am still a graphic designer – working for a graphics company here in Louisiana. Most people who want this go to an art school (such as the Art Institute of Houston) and graduate expecting a 6-figure salary right away. Ain’t gonna happen, cap’n. Find a place to start, and be patient to work your way up.
