How I did it: I signed up for the 5K walk/run fundraiser for our local library. I didn't prepare at all, and just walked it. I wore comfortable, flexible sneakers and light clothes, and brought my mp3 player. Having music made a big difference. And being surrounded by friends and community helped. It took me a month from signing up, and then I just showed up and did it. Read how I did it…
How I did it: I looked up where where there were labyrinths near me, and picked one--the pebble labyrinth in the Garden of the Senses at the Coastal Maine Botanical Gardens. It turns out that that one is really small, so it is a little hard to follow. But it's neat that it's pebbles and you take off your shoes to walk barefoot. It was also somewhat busy. I went to a tango event at a public fountain in Olympia, Washington. It’s one of those flat ones with random jets of water.
It’s something I definitely want to do again, now that I’m a better dancer. Next time I’ll dress to get wet and wear different shoes, and bring my dancer friends with me! Perhaps it’s something we can do as a dance bomb somewhere. I love surprising the public with awesome unexpected dancing!
