This was a sport I took up in my early 20s, just before meeting my husband. And it was something we did until I started having babies. I gave it up for a long time, but tried it again when the kids were growing up. Unfortunately there always seemed to be one reason or another for having to make it wait, so it sort of died a death.
As with most things though, it isn’t something you can do on your own. So my main ‘issue’ is finding somewhere like a club or team, that welcomes newcomers.
I thought it would be a good idea to look up my local leisure centres, and have found they have classes, which would probably be a good starting place, just to get my eye in. And from there I can enquire about clubs and teams when I am of a standard.
Typically, the Leisure centre was closed for refurbishment on the day I walked 3 miles to get to it… but the walk was brilliant. And the attractive man that got me a load of leaflets wasn’t too bad either. (wink, wink…lol)

When I was a teenager I used to be part of a Christian youth group that took us camping and kayaking. We used to pack all the stuff into plastic bags and stow them in the pointy bits of the kayaks… then go out onto the sea, and travel for a couple of hours, before putting into a cove and having something to eat, drink or just rest up. Then pack up and do it again. When the sun was starting to go down we would make camp for the night, and the next day we would do it again.
When we moved house, I never gave it another thought for a few years. But as time has moved on, I have really wished that I had kept it up.
And then recently, it suddenly dawned on me that there was no reason why I shouldn’t!
So I have been looking up local groups, clubs and organisations, and in the New Year I shall get in touch and find out where and when and what they do etc…
Will keep you posted on progress.

Been and done so many things, and all for different reasons…
but none of them because that was what I really wanted to do in life.
These last few years it seems the only jobs anyone is willing to offer me are temporary contracts with poor conditions and no job security, working in call centres like battery hens.
AND I HATE IT!!
The things I like doing most are cooking and taking care of folks. So I figured it would be great to work in a cafe or small bistro type place. Somewhere I can help people chill out with a great cuppa and a tasty bite to eat.
I even thought that the ideal type of place for the cafe was either a garden centre, or one of those heritage sites or stately homes.
How wonderful that would be…
:-)
