Well it’s been a year since I started this…and I haven’t really thought about it with specific regard to this website. But as far as this goal is concerned, part of it I HAVE been thinking about: I can’t always be worried so much about what other people are thinking ABOUT ME that I’m not even thinking about them and what they need. I feel like this is a bad explanation of what I really mean…

is definitely one of the hardest on my list. In college, I majored in psychology, and I can’t stop thinking about the Fundamental Attribution Error. Basically, (courtesy of Wikipedia) “the fundamental attribution error describes the tendency to over-value dispositional or personality-based explanations for the observed behaviors of others while under-valuing situational explanations for those behaviors. The fundamental attribution error is most visible when people explain the behavior of others. It does not explain interpretations of one’s own behavior—where situational factors are often taken into consideration.” I sometimes forget that everyone isn’t coming from the same point of view as me. And not everything is personal…and if I want to understand people, I have to be willing to give people the benefit of the doubt…
Honestly just realizing this makes it easier to do…and (SOMETIMES) keeps me from feeling like people are jerks…and it’s all my fault…
