How I did it: we knew we wanted a larger community than our small meditation group and that we wanted a liberal, open- minded congregation. so we went to a number of unitarian churches until we found one that was the right fit for us.after doing this we went to one church for 2 months and found that this was perfect for us. How I did it: i researched what grew well in my area and called the university's urban horticulture center a lot. i bought perennials, and got cuttings and baby plants from friends and off freecycle. i picked only hardy drought tolerant plants so that after 2 years i wouldn't have to water that particular plant. eventually, we only watered on the very hottest of summer days and in the vegetable beds. we have a lush, easy care garden that is really b… Read how I did it…
i am moving to the country with my family where shops are 20 minutes away rather than 2. we hope to become more self-sufficient by learning to do more things ourselves, like grow a lot of our own food.
