RIF means I’ve been home since May, and we’ve been able to do lots more fun and interesting things. Yippee! Definitely a blessing in disguise.

I’ve always wanted to do early morning yoga, but could never really commit to it. Plus, whenever I tried, I would always be so stiff from just getting out of bed, I didn’t think I was getting much benefit from it. But I’ve recently started exercising more regularly, and have just this week been managing to get up consistently at 5:30 so I can get in a workout before the day starts. And it’s been great for doing yoga, as well! I finish my workout in 30 minutes, and then spend 30-45 minutes doing asans and breathing. If I’m really raring to go after the workout, I might tune into Inhale, and do some power yoga.
I did this in 7 weeks, by cutting calories down to only 1200-1550 per day, and adding in exercise. I used sparkpeople.com as a resource to help me do this. I started out just walking for a few minutes on my lunch hour, and stepped it up gradually. Eventually, I was walking 45 minutes, but it wasn’t really enough for me (I wanted to run), plus, I didn’t want to go back to work all sweaty. So now I’m getting up early to do a workout, and for the first time in my life, I’m loving it! I’m glad that I decided to take it slow, and make changes to my eating and exercising habits, because I think this will stick!
