I lived quite happily without a car for several decades. But then the opportunity arose and I thought “why not?”. I fell in love with him on first drive… and now I wouldn’t have it any other way. I’m mindful of what it’s doing to our planet, but I’m also restrictive about what I use it for. I still walk alot and ride my bike, but as for the ease of getting out and seeing our great country there’s no better way, than in my little car.

I left school at 17, and took 10 years before I had the courage to go back. Another 10 years and I got a diploma and a degree. Never underestimate the sense of achievement one can get out of going back to study. I’ll never regret the personal growth I’ve experienced or the value added to my career.

It may be the easiest or hardest thing you’ve ever done. I barely thought twice when the offer was made – I decided it was an opportunity that may never come again. Australia to Canada. Australia is not North America in so many ways, sometimes it felt as though the only common ground was the language, but even that was a challenge at times with an Aussie accent. Another life affirming and life changing activity that helps to make us what we are to be.

My 40th birthday present to myself. Stunning NZ scenery that everybody must see at least once in their lives. A life enhancing experience.

My dad walked the Overland in 1953, and the stories from that trip have inspired my love of bushwalking.
I walked the Overland in February (Australian Summer). We started the trip in rain, by the end of the first day we were walking in sleet and snow. The 2nd day was walking in thigh high mud! The last day cross Lake St Clair was in beautiful sunshine. The whole gambit of weather over 6 days. What a great great experience.
