I just realized that my last entry was 9 months ago, and I also realized that I don’t log in to 43 Things as much as I should…so this is my main goal now! Until it becomes a (hopefully) daily habit! :-)

My honey and I got married at the courthouse (details in my last entry) on October 17, 2008. I can say with absolute certainty that I don’t regret getting married in a courthouse one bit! We focused on the marriage itself and our commitment to each other and it was witnessed by our closest family members, as opposed to a crazy over-priced blown-up spectacle where I would have lost my freaking mind with stress. Our parents and siblings loved being there with us. We all had a nice lunch at a local Italian restaurant following the ceremony, and then my hubby and I spent the weekend at a bed and breakfast in southern Indiana. It was a great day and weekend!
On another marriage-related note, I decided not to change my last name. It feels a little weird being in the vast minority of married women, but I like my last name, and I don’t feel that I should have to change part of who I am because I get married. Now I suppose I’ll have to explain myself every time I’m called Mrs. —! sigh :-)
As of today, here’s what we’ve done:
- pulled up carpet in living room and hallway
- painted all three bedrooms
- primed kitchen walls
- removed hideous curtains and window treatments
- paint kitchen walls
- sand and paint kitchen cabinets
- put down vinyl floor tiles in kitchen
- paint living room
- clean and polish hardwood floors
- sand and refinish a couple of bad spots on hardwood floors
- paint panels on washer/dryer partition in kitchen
- put up new curtains/blinds
- painted built-in bookshelves in sunroom
- painted hallway
Things left to do:
- carpet sunroom (hopefully wedding gift $$$ will fund this!)
- furnish sunroom (hopefully wedding gift $$$ will fund this!)
- install new blinds in sunroom
- replace kitchen countertops
- install new light fixture in dining area
- reseal windows on the outside (we need to do this soon, winter is coming!)
- paint exterior of house
- replace doorknob on bathroom door
I’ll keep adding things as I think of them!
