I read as many books and articles about how to calm down on airplanes as I could and I just kept trying to fly on plans and remain calm before during and after the flight. I didn’t use any sedatives so I could make sure I could calm my body down myself. I also never ever watch or read anything about accidents so I can keep my mind free of those unrealistic worries.
I’ve finally gotten to where I can fly without fear and it is liberating!
Also, like someone else on this list said, I looked down at the little cars below me and saw how close they were driving next to each other and obstacles and then thought about how well maintained and engineered this airplane was and how very far away we were from anything that could interrupt our flying. It just made me realize how very much safer flying is than driving in a way that my brain could understand more than detached statistics.
i like using netvibes as one of my home tabs on firefox to view my RSS feeds. this way i can also include other widgets like a clock, my email inbox, etc.
bloglines is nice for discovering lots of good RSS feeds though.
