I recently joined the Navy through the Delayed Entry Program (DEP) and running was one of the things I needed to work on before boot camp. I found that the key is really just to start doing intrevals. I’d walk on a treadmill for 5 min to warm up, then I’d run for 3, walk for 2, run for 4, and so on until I could run for like 30 min without stopping. Now, if I really push myself, I can run a mile under 8 min. Baby steps really work!
