I went there last month and stayed there for five days. The city is not that big but a tour guide may be helpful if you dont have much time to discover the city by yourself. I went to the Favela (ghetto part of the city) with a tour guide which would be dangerous if you go there alone. The night life is good, Rio Scenarium is one of the most popular places there. Three words: Football, girls, beaches…

The city is big and there are lots of attractions to do. Visit museums, go to Six Flags, go to see the pyramids or take the city tour buses etc. I stayed there for nine days and went out every night. The night life is incredible, people there know how to party. People are polite and friendly, they can help you if you need, but not so many people speak English, a little Spanish may be helpful. The city is safe, do not be afraid to go there.
I went to La Habana and stayed there for three days. Before i went there i was expecting a more lively and exciting city but it was not like what i thought. When you walk in the streets people may wanna sell you something or wanna take you to a restaurant or a bar for a tip in return. Even if you say you dont want any assistance they may not leave you alone. In Cuba they dont accept American (issued in America) credit cards (at least when i was there) and the currency for US dollar is low so try not to have US dollars in your wallet. Bringing Canadian dollar or Euro may be a good idea. Dont forget to smoke the authentic cigars.
