How I did it: I decided one day that I was going to visit my friend out at school. I knew I worked a lot over the summer and had plenty of money to book a ticket. I went online to travelocity and booked a flight. I adjusted the days I was leaving and the airports and got my ticket for a little over $200. I didn't have to pay for a hotel room since I was staying in my friend's dorm. Food costs were a minimum. Read how I did it…
I grew up in the fire dept. My dad, grandfather, two uncles, two aunts and a cousin are all fire fighters. I remember sitting at the fire house while my dad went to a call, watching them put on their gear and hop on a truck and speed down the street, it still makes me jealous. Hopefully I’ll start fire school in February.
Also, I’m tired of people telling me I can’t do it because I’m a girl. I want to prove to them that I can.
I volunteer with a first aid squad and it is the best feeling in the world. When I completed the class and found out I passed my exam and was a certified EMT I had never felt so happy. I’ve been an EMT for about 6 months now and I love it.
