I end up writing a lot of goofy stuff that no one would use when I’m playing around at home. For example, today I wrote a simple telnet server in ruby.
The other main thing I’ve been working on is a utility to upload files to my xbox media center.
I guess in seeking to get away from writing web apps, I’ve started making stuff that isn’t very useful to most people.

I tried getting some exercise videos with bittorrent and using them, but I was not exercising consistently. So I came up with a plan where I pay my wife $5 if I don’t work out for at least a half hour.
It plays to my cheapness, but I guess whatever motivates me works, right? :)

The paste mixing was easy, the bottle filling was a pain and really messy. The application and results were kind of sloppy, but I’m not a great artist.
I’m sure I’ll get a little better, but I feel like at this point I “get it”. I think that’s all I really wanted out of this. I just wanted to understand what was possible and have it to play around with when I feel like it.
