A couple weeks ago, my car just stopped working. In the middle of the road. On my way to work. It was quite the scene-people honking and trying to maneuver around me. After several panicked minutes, I was able to get the car back in gear and get to work. After having the car towed, my fear was realized-my transmission was shot.
I was pretty upset. It’s hard to save for a move and then try to not go into debt after we move and are unemployed while having to make a car payment. But at the same time, had I shelled out the 3500+ bucks to get a new transmission, it would’ve almost completely wiped out out savings (AKA moving fund).
Luckily, as a last-ditch effort, my husband took the car to Aamco, and the miracle men their made it good as new for only 1600! I was ecstatic. I wasn’t ready to let my car go. It just turned 10, and I was hoping to have it for many years to come. Now I can—they think I can get another 100,000 miles on it as long as the engine holds out. Hurrah! The owner reassured us that we made the right decision. Better to put a little money in this car then have to buy a new one!

This is the most ambitious reading goal I’ve set to date (usually I just try to read 25). My plan of attack is to try to read 3 books per month for as long as possible to set the pace. Luckily, now that I’m taking part in 2 different book clubs, this goal will be easier because they will account for 2 books per month no matter what.

In honor of the 360 tour, I’m going to include another U2 song. I can’t believe I heard this song live, it was amazing. The lyrics are really powerful and meaningful to me. Good advice to live by:
I’m not afraid
Of anything in this world
There’s nothing you can throw at me
That I haven’t already heard
I’m just trying to find
A decent melody
A song that I can sing
In my own company
I never thought you were a fool
But darling, look at you. Ooh.
You gotta stand up straight, carry your own weight
‘Cause tears are going nowhere baby
You’ve got to get yourself together
You’ve got stuck in a moment
And now you can’t get out of it
Don’t say that later will be better
Now you’re stuck in a moment
And you can’t get out of it
I will not forsake
The colors that you bring
The nights you filled with fireworks
They left you with nothing
I am still enchanted
By the light you brought to me
I listen through your ears
Through your eyes I can see
You are such a fool
To worry like you do.. Oh
I know it’s tough
And you can never get enough
Of what you don’t really need now
My, oh my
You’ve got to get yourself together
You’ve got stuck in a moment
And you can’t get out of it
Oh love, look at you now
You’ve got yourself stuck in a moment
And you can’t get out of it
Oh lord look at you now
You’ve got yourself stuck in a moment
And you cant gt out of it
I was unconscious, half asleep
The water is warm ‘til you discover how deep
I wasn’t jumping, for me it was a fall
It’s a long way down to nothing at all
You’ve got to get yourself together
You’ve got stuck in a moment
And you can’t get out of it
Don’t say that later will be better
Now you’re stuck in a moment
And you can’t get out of it
And if the night runs over
And if the day won’t last
And if your way should falter
Along this stony pass
It’s just a moment
This time will pass
