in Taupo – North Island of New Zealand. I wanted to do one before I reach 50 and that just happened to be two days after the race.
Anyway, I completed the 21.1kms in 2hours 36minutes which I know isn’t right up there but for a novice like me who trained by myself and had done no previous running, I’m stoked!!!
While waiting for the horn to start the race I was quite excited and realised that this is what I’d spent the last few months training for, and as we set off I just felt soooooo good and had such a feeling of accomplishment inside me (even though we’d only just started!).
It rained the WHOLE DAY and while running back along the lake front there was even a slight breeze just to add to the delight of the day.
Definitely worth doing.

I attended a State of Origin rugby league finals match in Sydney years ago and it was absolutely brilliant.
Had never been to a match like this before with so many people and it was just amazing.

November 2004 saw me flying from NZ to Melbourne, Australia to attend the Eagles Farewell I concert AND I was seated five rows from the front!!!! AND ….. the concert was filmed and I appear in the Eagles – Farewell 1 Tour – Live From Melbourne DVD.
It was just magical and I sat there numb – trying to believe my ears and eyes that I was actually there.
No one else I knew was prepared to spend the dollars to get there, so I went by myself and that trip will always hold the most fantastic memories of a life time.
I never thought I’d ever get to see them (what with living way down here at the bottom of New Zealand) and with being so close to the stage and everything …....... well it’s just right up there.
