I like veggies better than fruit and I have a hard time eating my daily fruit allowance. What is it supposed to be anyway, five? I’ve been eating a lot healthier lately and really cutting down on meat – this is good because I also eat more vegetables (i.e., I made burritos last week with bell peppers, cilantro, fresh homemade salsa, avocado, cheese, and homemade refried beans – but no meat).
But fruit is hard for me, so I’m trying to eat at least one serving per day. I had been in a bit of a slump until yesterday, when I ate a peach and a strawberry-raspberry smoothie as well as strawberry jam on my bagel and a slice of raspberry cake (topped with raspberries). Eating fruit mixed with sugar and/or marsala wine isn’t the healthiest serving, but it’s gotta count for something. And the raspberry marsala cake is to die for.

How I did it: I got a teaching job and I live in China now. I went to Thailand twice in 2009 but I haven't left Asia since I got here. I think that spending a year in a place counts as living there. I spent four months in Italy in 2002 but since it was study abroad I don't think it counts as "living" there. In China, I have a job and an apartment and pay bills and deal with things that a 20 year old in a dorm with all her activities a… Read how I did it…
