I would recommend not just moving from Michigan, but out of the Midwest. Many who venture from the Midwest end up moving back - they didn’t feel the grass was greener elsewhere - but you’ll never know if you don’t try.
Having lived in many different places across the US—and currently commuting from Key West, FL to San Diego, CA every other week, I am still shocked by how different each region is. Each had its advantages and disadvantages. Every person will weigh those differently and find the place that best suits him or her.
Try lots of different places, get a feel for what is important for you, and don’t be afraid to move back to Michigan if that is the place the feels the best. But definitely take the plunge and get out of the Midwest for at least a year. If nothing else, you’ll be a more well-rounded person for it!
