build a treehouse
Untitled

The treehouse is not finished, and never will be—though it has a solid 5×8 floor, walls, and a camouflage paint job. I’ve found the biggest thrill isn’t the final product, but the experience of sitting on a branch, dreaming of the things one could build there. I built it, without approval, in the public land across the street from my home. To me this was the best way to go, recreating the childish thrill of nailing boards to the tree that your parents forbid you to climb.

Nearly any tree can be made into a treehouse. Eyebolts and cable can make a sturdy, flexible support to many kinds of structures. For a more abstract treehouse, you could string up some rope netting and a hammock. There are endless possibilities, just find a tree and start imagining.

www.thetreehouseguide.com has some good information to get started.

Learn to shoot a bow and arrow
Untitled

Bows are rated in “pounds” based on how much force it takes to pull it back. I have a 30-pound recurve bow. If you have trouble pulling it back and holding it, I recommend a compound bow. They have pullies so there’s virtually no pull when it’s completely drawn, making it easier to aim. Recurve bows get harder the further you draw them, but they also look way cooler. Look around on eBay if you want a cheap bow, then check the yellow pages or buy some hay bales for a place to shoot it.
