Read and review two books per month this year (read all 2 entries…)

I totally stopped reading Grania, but I picked up “Pride and Prejudice and Zombies.”

So. awesome. What’s better than Jane Austen AND some serious Zombie-killing? It’s very tongue-in-cheek, and mostly original with the author adding phrases here and there about killing zombies. Most of the characters I despised in the original P&P certainly get theirs (Charlotte Lucas, Mr. Collins, Lydia, Wickham).

I’m currently in the middle of four books, one being the original P&P, but I plan on continuing the Sookie series soon. Hopefully that keeps my interest! Otherwise – back to HP!

apply to schools
Untitled 9 months ago

Well it took me long enough! I have everything all set, even though there were a few bumps in the road, i.e. lsac not being able to support mac unless I got firefox. Firefox is cool, but I’m not used to it, so imagine the first thing I try to do on it, at midnight – mind you!, is apply to schools. All shades of awesomeness! I actually….have not applied yet, only because at 1am, my eyes were too groggy to make sure everything was not cropped off by their conversion program. So I must do it tonight because, well, at 11:59pm EST, I’m late.

I’m reading Grania – the she-king of the Irish seas! If I don’t decide to reread the entire Harry Potter series in the middle of reading this one, I should be able to finish it. It’s quite the chunky book!

I’m down from 200lbs a year ago to 172. I’m starting to fluctuate now, so I need to stay focused. I just joined a gym, and I’m trying to make a conscious effort with food, but pizza and her cronies the garlic knots are making it super difficult!

Technically, this is complete. I went to the Jazz Festival on Governor’s Island back in early September. It’s a lot of fun, even if you’re only people-watching. Maybe next year, I’ll muster up the courage to try their dance lessons.

I had a bit of a deadline to get my old room in shape for the annual family Christmas party. It’s not like anyone ever really goes in there, but there’s always that one year when the nosy aunt peeks her head in when it’s a pigsty and doesn’t let you forget it for at least six months. A cross-cut shredder was my chosen partner-in-crime, and I seriously have never gotten rid of so much stuff before in my life. It felt great. I still have lots to do, but 3 and a half bags went away. I have a general idea of what I’d like to sell on ebay, so that’s part II of this saga, I think.

I saw the one on Governor’s Island up close and personal! It was actually quite cool once they turned it on. It’s hard to believe something like that cost millions and millions of dollars, but I guess with permits, safety precautions and allllll that scaffolding, it racks up! It was quite nice!

So we start apartment hunting this Saturday. I need to work up the guts to call a few people, and pray that everything works out okay. I know he wants a 1bd, but I’d take an alcove if it has everything I need, i.e. a roof, a door with a lock, windows, a kitchen and a bathroom.

I went to a party that I was putting off for ages on Saturday night. I had a falling out with a few friends yearrsss ago who would be there…and they were, but I held my head high despite the lack of acknowledgement on either end. Score one for the esteem.

with cash, obvi, thanks to goal #1. Credit cards are out of control, but I feel like I’m more determined than ever to pay them off and start living.

Actually, I think this may be a gift to myself after having completed goal #1.

Apparently, I’m notorious for not following through on decisions I’ve made. About 90% of the decisions concern me, my life, my education, but it’s gotten to the point where other people have noticed the pattern. Time to put a stop to it, and become a (wo)man of my word.

I keep putting this goal off. I’ve been wanting to do this since I was a kid, but I’m now 24 and nothing has come to fruition. I’m putting this off until I can take it seriously, which hopefully will be within the next few years.

I’m giving up on this until after June. Hopefully then I can concentrate on long distance running.
